Flor De Cabrera, Dominican Republic
Despite Helen & Johnse’ residence in Austin, we never had a chance to meet them before their destination wedding in Cabrera, Dominican Republic. But that didn’t stop them from treating us like party of the family when we arrived! They had their intimate wedding at the beautiful Villa, Flor De Cabrera… I swear this place was built for destination weddings! They had direct access to the beach front and a breath taking view of the atlantic ocean where many of the guest had the pleasure of whale watching. Now, when your in a place like this, it’s less of a wedding day and more of a wedding week! They planned many activities for their family and friends throughout the week. They went cliff diving at Lake Du Du, zipping lining in the jungle, golfing at a ocean side club and had a bon fire for the rehearsal dinner. It was a fantastic week filled with laugher, love, and adventure!

Austin Wedding | Jill + Perry

BOB BULLOCK MUSEUM

Jill & Perry had their wedding in downtown Austin at the Bob Bullock Texas State history Museum. These 2 Chicago residents enjoyed the extremely mild temperatures of our Texas winter. The reception went heavy all night long with great music by The Blind Date Band. Loxodonta Weddings & Events did an amazing job coordinating the whole affair!

Guatemala Travels

We visited this beautiful country to shoot an Antigua, Guatemala wedding. We really fell in love with the culture that Guatemala has, it seems to have stayed very pure considering the modernization of other countries in central America. We spent most of our time wandering the streets and eating the delicious food they have to offer. The ruins there are simply amazing, the earthquakes and volcanoes that destroyed churches from hundreds of years ago are absolutely worth visiting and most are just a couple bucks to enter. You can see more of the ruins from the wedding we shot there, we felt very lucky to have them as a backdrop! We hiked up the Pacaya volcano as well (well, I took a horse). It was a very difficult hike being at such a high elevation and in November it was very cold at the top, something that neither of us were prepared for. Nonetheless we enjoyed roasting marsh mellows with other rogue travelers from all around the world from the heat of the volcano. With the bride and groom (and their family) we took a very brief side trip to Panajachel to shoot a quick day after session. This town was warmer (a lot warmer!) and has a beautiful view of 3 amazing volcanoes right on Lake Atitlan. There was a festival going on as we were driving through town on a very tiny road just barely wide enough for 2 cars much less hundreds of people as well. This is a town we must visit again, we definitely did not get enough time soaking in this city. It’s one of the few towns in Guatemala where the men still wear their traditional Guatemalan attire.

In short, don’t waste time in Guatemala city, soak up the ruins of Antigua, and spend time enjoying the culture of Panajachel. Hopefully we will also make it to Tikal next time!

New York, NY Engagement | Caitlin + Mike

This was our second time to be shooting engagement photos in New York City where the bride and groom were getting married in Austin. Caitlin & Mike’s upcoming wedding at Mansion on Judges hill is one that we are really looking forward to! They have both lived in NYC for many years so they wanted to encapsulate that part of their life in the engagement photos. We flew in only a week before super storm Sandy was set to hit mainland, little did we know New York City would be right in the crosshairs. Despite the impending doom, the weather leading up to it was quite pleasant and we were able to catch the tail end of the fall colors. We met at Grand Central station where we attempted to navigate the crowds and get some images that showed off the architecture and the hustle and bustle of city life. Then we grabbed a cab and headed to Central Park where the trees were beaming with color and the local street artist were out in abundance. After the shoot we headed to a near by restaurant to enjoy the great food the NYC has to offer.

Austin Wedding | Ashley + David

Vista West Ranch

Ashley & Davids airplane themed wedding at Vista West Ranch was so unique! David used to restore old planes so he surprised everyone and had one of the planes do a low fly over during the ceremony. Everyone was so excited it was a great way to kick off the celebrations. For the grand exit, they had everyone fold paper airplanes to throw as they ran out. So clever! This was my second wedding in a row at Vista West Ranch and I can not wait to go back!
