Mimi and Conor got married on an amazingly beautiful day this past January at Las Capuchinas in Antigua Guatemala, one of my favorite wedding venues in… the world. They had never been to Guatemala before but they trusted their guts, their wedding planner of I Do Guatemala, & the photos they had seen online. Having met in Iraq I consider them both fellow nomads, like myself, they’re current location is just as hard to track down as mine!  Conor was persistent after 2 years of friendship with Mimi and after a random trip to Belize they started dating. We first met in Washington DC for their engagement session exactly 2 months before their wedding day. Mimi has an infectious spirit and a light-heartedness that makes what can potentially be a stressful day, like a wedding, feel like a breeze and Conor, despite a recent injury, was killing it on the dance floor. Right before the ceremony started the Aguacate volcano began to erupt with smoke, as Mimi said “it’s every girl’s dream to have a volcano erupt on her wedding day”. After the wedding we all took the trip to Lake Atitlan for a sunrise/5:30am ‘day after’ session so Mimi and Conor could jump into the lake. It was the perfect way to solidify them ‘taking the plunge’ of marriage together and I can’t wait to see where their next adventure brings them. :)

Mimi & Conor recently said their vows in Antigua Guatemala and I am making this post from Belize! While Mimi lived in D.C. at the time of the session they have now moved on to Louisiana where both are now based in the military. I can’t wait to share the photos the two of them hanging out IN Lake Atitlan!

Ben & Sarah found us because they were also local to Austin but they decided to have their wedding in Omaha, Nebraska, where Sarah is from. We spent the entire day with them, starting with bud lights and some sweet dance moves. The ceremony was held at the First Unitarian Church of Omaha and the reception at downtown wedding venue One Thousand Dodge. In between the two we had wonderful photographic opportunities to enjoy the unique, and totally new to us, look of downtown Omaha in a giant limo. Dance moves get interesting when you’re shaking it in a moving vehicle. The Drywater band, flown in from Houston, & Sarah’s own brother, DJ Cannonball Adderly lead an amazing reception with a nonstop packed dancefloor. Must also give credit to Shaun Sypal for his easy to work with planning and Hillis and Company for the beautiful floral design.

I cannot say enough positive things about Chloe & Tim. 18 months before the wedding Chloe contacted me ending the story of her and Tim with “I am moved to tears and jealousy of your story and lives!” and with those words I was immediately moved by them. Their wedding was at the Pie Ranch, a cute venue in between San Francisco and Santa Cruz that reminds me of many of the beautiful weddings in the Hill Country area of Texas. They had a first look amongst the eucalyptus trees and a ceremony that lead many to shed tears of joy. Their love and commitment to each other as well as special needs kids is difficult not to be inspired by. Their reception was lead by a contra dance instructor who encouraged everyone at the wedding to get involved on the dance floor! Their genuine approach on life will continue to inspire me every time I see their photos.
