You may recognize these lovely humans from 3 weddings we have photographed in the last year and a half! Sushma & Vivek have decided to embark on the adventure of celebrating their wedding anniversary every year with a photo session in a new place. This year, their 1st, lined up perfectly with our trip out to Southern California for Jaclyn & Justin’s wedding. In true bollywood style they were dressed to the nines for their session on the beach of Santa Monica.

Samantha & Rajiv hosted an amazing 3 day event in Dallas this past October. The event started at Samantha’s parent’s home with a theme of lights and henna for the girls. The sangeet held place at the Renaissance Hotel’s brand new ballroom. Performances were made by many family members & friends as well the Roarin’ Raas Dance Team, from Rice University with surprise appearance by Rajiv himself! The wedding day included a baraat lead by DJ Yogi on the shut down streets in front of the Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas. The hindu ceremony lasted an hour and included the traditions of exchanging the garland, the panigrahana, where the groom takes the bride’s hand in front of fire, and the saptapadi, where the groom leads the bride around the fire 7 times as they are tied together. After lunch and a short break the 800 person party was kicked off with magicians, centerpieces as tall as me, a hip-hop flutist, & a comedian MC (Paul Varghese). I expected nothing less as the dance party lasted into the wee hours of the morning! Thank you to Events by Hala for making sure everything ran smoothly and to Todd Events for making it beautiful!
Jaclyn & Justin are one of the many awesome couples we have been lucky enough to meet through Melissa & Dave. They started the wedding day at the modern hotel Casa 425 where the had their first look and took photos with their adorable son Noah. The rest of the wedding day took place at Justin’s parents home in the mountains of Clairemont, California. They had a Jewish ceremony complete with the signing of the Ketubah and breaking of the glass. The day could not have been more beautiful for an outdoor reception. While California nights can be a bit cooler everyone managed to stay warm with plenty of dancing. This group knows how to party right. We joined the group for the after party in which we managed to devour many pizzas.
When Cindy first e-mailed us she ensured us that they were uber-dorks which immediately got our attention. They did not disappoint from the very beginning. From their stormtrooper figurine website to crochet superheroes, I knew that we were going to get along just fine on the wedding day. They held their wedding at the Sam Houston hotel which offered an outdoor feel inside a hotel ‘ballroom’. On the wedding day they incorporated an Iron Man comic book, books for centerpieces, & of course the crochet superheroes (instead of bouquet & garter toss). We were also lucky enough to grab a photo with their blow-up Nicolas Cage who also made a special appearance at Cindy’s bachelorette party. They had a super fun reception complete with a set of giant jenga that always seemed constantly on the verge of knocking over. Props to Cindy’s mom on all of the beautiful florals and Honeydew events for her help on the day of!
